Vision

SBA is a not-for profit senior business executive led organization of progressive companies that by action, advocacy and raising awareness, galvanize the Australian business community to build a sustainable world.

Purpose

Through its members SBA's purpose is to promote national and global efforts to advance corporate responsibility across leadership andmanagement so as to generate constructive commercial solutions and take responsible shared action.

Goal

The Goal of SBA is to guide its members to focus on solutions and utilise its Networks to:

  • develop, support and advocate sustainable business strategies and solutions through research, and cross-sector collaboration
  • generate innovative policy ideas and initiatives around the environment, economics, human rights (gender, indigenous), as well as governance and accountability to position business as part of the solution to drive sustainable, inclusive growth
  • connect enterprises, thought leaders, peers and stakeholders - all focused on creating and commercialising viable sustainability solutions
  • create strong affiliate relationships with other business, NGOs and civil society to bring about shared outcomes

Members

  • SBA Members some of the leading Australian-based business enterprises (corporations, public sector agencies, and NGOs), large, medium and small, from both public and private sectors
  • Membership is open to organisations committed to sustainable development and to promoting the role of innovation and corporate social responsibility
  • Membership is tailored on a company's level of interest, engagement and desire to frame and advocate the sustainable development agenda

Our Work

  • SBA takes a unique approach to engaging and developing policy positions and reports that are driven and incubated by member organizations and demonstrate proven results
  • Outcomes are achieved through collaborative workgroup platforms on key focus areas that are established to ensure all aspects of sustainable development in business are dealt with effectively
  • SBA also uses Member specific activities to discuss, debate and showcase the Work Group's Programs, Initiatives, Projects and Campaigns

Networks

  • SBA engages with Federal and StateGovernments, international, and national organisations, academic institutions, civil society and other business organisations
  • SBA is building an Australian centre of excellence as part of its role as the Global Network Partner to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)
