Forests Alive

Forests Alive is a private company that delivers "Biodiverse Carbon and Climate Solutions". The company develops projects that protect native forests under threat and create a source of revenue to landowners, communities or companies engaged in safekeeping forest areas. Our projects emphasise the importance of protecting Biodiversity and natural, resilient carbon stocks.

In addition to project development, we offer carbon credits for sale that have been generated in Tasmania, and validated under two standards; Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), and Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance (CCBA) which affirms the biodiversity value of our projects.

Forests Alive is currently working with the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Latin American Development Bank and regional NGOs in Brazil to deliver a REDD project in the state of Amazonas.

Redd Forests to Forests Alive
January 2013

Redd Forests has announced their name change to "Forests Alive".

In August 2012, Redd Forests welcomed new Managing Director, Virginia Young. This was followed by a careful re-think into the company’s purpose and goals.

"In recognition of our role in fostering domestic as well as international forest protection projects that deliver strong carbon, biodiversity and community benefits, we decided a name was needed which better reflected our purpose," Forests Alive Technical Expert Lawrence Rimmer said.

"The change in name to 'Forests Alive' demonstrates that we work beyond the REDD-IFM schemes and place greater emphasis on our role in protecting native forests, and maintaining the natural and robust carbon stock, and the biodiversity that they contain. We have and will continue to focus on delivering projects that protect Australia's native forests and wildlife.

"We are also pleased to announce that we are expanding our international presence with our project in the Brazilian state of Amazonas attracting the partnership of UNCTAD (the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development) and CAF (the Latin-American Development Bank)," Mr Rimmer said.
